For children Kiddies Adventureland at Athlone Leisure offers an indoor dream for all kids. This is a supervised kiddies play area with slippery slides, rope bridges, pulleys, ball pools, bouncy castle, free fall and spiral tube slides.

If you experience wet weather, Athlone Leisure World at Grace Road would be well worth a visit. Facilities include computerised ten pin bowling, kiddies adventureland, astro-turf football and a health and fitness club.
Athlone has a good rail link to Dublin - about an hour - ideal for sightseeing in the city. Alternatively, for a day out, you could visit Belvedere House Gardens and Park at Mullingar, about an hour's drive away. 160 acres of parkland with 6kms of magnificent woodland and lakeshore walks, including the Narnia Trail. The garden was created in the 18th century by Lord Belfield after he suspected his wife of having an affair with his brother. The angered aristocrat locked her in the house for 30 years while he landscaped the garden. Adjacent to the visitor centre are two children's play areas. There is also a delightful tram, which provides guided tours around a section of the parkland on selected days throughout the year
