Why do we recommend stopping here?

This picturesque village is an important boating harbour on the River Shannon with many attractive mooring places. There are some lovely walks here.

What is there to see?

Take a taxi to Lough Rynn House and Gardens at Mohill, Leitrim. The remains of Lord Leitrim's estate comprise ornamental gardens and nature trails, lakeside walks and many buildings of historical interest. There is also a golf course nearby.

What can I visit?

Lakeland Fishery is set in 20 acres in the heart of Irelands 'Lakeland' and provides everything for the discerning angler in a beautiful and peaceful setting, with the opportunity to catch most species including carp, big hybrids, tench and bream.

Do any famous people live here?

Albert Reynolds the eighth Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, serving one term in office from 1992 until 1994 was born here

Mooring

Moor alongside the quay wall on the right as you head south. Recommended mooring alongside the supermarket, or for a quiet evening closer to the lock. There is mooring available at several points between Roosky Lock and Roosky Bridge, and north of Roosky Bridge there is a concrete island for mooring while waiting for the bridge to lift. There are also mooring points in Kilglass lake and Grange Lake, and at Carnadoe Bridge (Private Marina).
