What is there to see?

Children will love the 9km rail trip through Blackwater Bog, near Shannonbridge. Learn about the bogs, how they were formed and worked through history and even try a little turf cutting! On the journey you will also learn about some of the more interesting archaeological finds in the bog.
The train carries a maximum of 53 people at a time, and travels on 3 foot narrow gauge track. The trip takes an hour and is well worth it. Along the journey you'll learn more about the boglands, their history, flora and fauna and the fascinating things being found in bogs like thousands of years old bog butter.

What can I visit?
