Why do we recommend stopping here?

A agreeable overnight stop at a pretty Nivernais village. The old settlement, situated on a rocky outcrop is at 201 mètres altitude, offers good views over the valleys of the Aron, the Alène, Canne and of the Nivernais Canal. There are a couple of nice restuarants not too far distant and you can collect bread from the boulangerie (closed Mondays) opposite the moorings.

What is there to see?

The towers of the chateau date from the 13th century

What can I visit?

Visit the Roman church dedicated to St Peter. It's one of the oldest in the region.

Do any famous people live here?

The painter Hector Hanoteau (1823-1890) created a school of painting at Briet, which is part of Cercy-la-Tour)

The market is held on Monday morings at Place d'Aligre and on Wednesday and Friday monrings at the roundabout, as you leave the town of Cercy

The is an outdoor pool open from 15th June to the end of August.
