Sitauted at the junction of the Canal du Nivernais and the Canal Latéral à la Loire, and the confluenbce of the Loire and the Aron, Decize is a pretty little town, well worth a stop to explore. The are 3 good supermarkets conveniently placed close to mooring spots so this is the ideal place to get any heavy shopping on board.
A agreeable overnight stop at a pretty Nivernais village. The old settlement, situated on a rocky outcrop is at 201 mètres altitude, offers good views over the valleys of the Aron, the Alène, Canne and of the Nivernais Canal. There are a couple of nice restuarants not too far distant and you can collect bread from the boulangerie (closed Mondays) opposite the moorings.
A leafy and tranquil spot for a relaxing overnight stop. Not a lot here but relax with a drink at the village bar, remembering to put in your bread order for the morning !
