Reviews for the Countess

people at Benson base were more friendly than Chertsey. But overall very good experience once again. It was my 4th time with Leboat and this one was the best one.
good boat, very easy to steer, roomy and well equipped.
The landscape between Deinze and Gent is wonderful.
Relaxing, quit and very nice landscapes.
The boat was excellent and ideally suited for two couples. easy to manouvre and handle.
My wife and I rented a Countess (2 cabins+saloon) from Leboat for 11 nights leaving September 22 from le Mas d'Agenais down the Baise overnighting in Nerac then back to the Garonne taking out at Montauban. We chose the Garonne because of the fine food and wines we have previously experienced in the Aquitaine the last two years. There is very limited traffic in late September and we only had a couple of very light rain showers. The staff of LeBoat are very helpful as our luggage was lost for 4 days. We carried a cell phone which allowed them to locate us on the canal and deliver our luggage. Not a problem, we bought a couple of changes and were surprised how little we actually needed on the boat.
The Countess does not have a bow thruster and steering was a little like driving on jello and it took me a few days to finally get the maneuvering down. The galley is below the saloon level and has no view at all, and the inside steering is impractical because of the limited sight. As such, it was a challenge at first for the two of us. However, once we got our routine down, operating turned to easy. We brought a portable DVD player and some DVD for nightly view, but really only watched a couple as we were tired by the end of the day. The master bedroom matress was a little hard, but no real complaints. All-in-All, the cruising the canal and river steering from atop is the joy not to be missed. Yes, I would recommend the Countess for up to 4 people.
The peacefulness and calmness.
It was a lovely spacious boat and we especially enjoyed steering from the deck. The only downside was that we were unable to visit everywhere we'd have liked because it was too big to fit under some bridges.
