What coronavirus restrictions are still in place that may affect your booking?

Although ALL of our cruising regions are now open, understandable and necessary government restrictions to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus must still be adhered to. Some restrictions, such as the limit on the number of households that are allowed to mix, may prevent you from travelling altogether. Be sure to check the below restrictions before you travel and contact us as soon as possible if you are no longer able to proceed with your holiday - our Go Boating with Confidence policy will apply.  

BELGIUM

Our Belgian region opened on 4th July 2020.

From the 4th July, you can experiance a fantastic boat holiday in the Belgium. However, please note the following regulations:

 

  • Government restrictions require that groups may consist up to a maximum of 15 people from the same family or circle of acquaintances.
  • Face masks are compulsory on public transport and in places where the safety distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained as well as in public buildings like shops, shopping malls, museums and restaurants/bars (when moving: i.e. coming in/going to restroom).
  • Although you are able to cruise, there may be some cruising restrictions in place. Our base teams will share the latest restrictions with you during your pre departure area & navigation briefing.
  • If you are travelling internationally, please ensure you check your home countries foreign office travel advise, to confirm there are no specific travel restrictions or self-isolation requirements that may prevent you from travelling to the destination.
  • If you are travelling in country, please check your local government guidelines, for any localised restrictions that may prevent you from travelling to the destination.

CANADA

Our Canadian region opened on 3rd June 2020.

From the 3rd June, you can experience a fantastic boat vacation in Canada however, please note the following regulations:

 

  • Government restrictions that are in place require that groups need to be from one household, or a maximum of 10 people if living in different households.
  • Everyone visiting Eastern Ontario (where Le Boat are based) are required to wear non-medical masks in indoor public places.
  • Although you are able to cruise, there may be some cruising restrictions in place.
  • Owing to the operational challenges that coronavirus has presented us with, we have taken the decision not to open our base in Seeley’s Bay for the rest of the 2020 season.
  • Many stores, shops, restaurants, bars and other attractions may limit the amount of people inside at any one time.
  • If you are travelling internationally, please ensure you check your home countries foreign office travel advise, to confirm there are no specific travel restrictions or self-isolation requirements that may prevent you from travelling to the destination. (This includes those planning to drive from the USA).
  • If you are travelling in country, please check your local government guidelines, for any localised restrictions that may prevent you from travelling to the destination.

ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND

Our Thames region opened on 4th July 2020.

Our Scottish region opened on 22nd July 2020.

From 4th July on the Thames and 22nd July in Scotland, you can experience a fantastic boat vacation however, please note the following regulations:

 

  • Government restrictions that are in place, require that groups need to be from no more than two household.
  • Although you are able to cruise, there may be some cruising restrictions in place. Our base teams will share the latest restrictions with you during your pre departure area & navigation briefing.
  • Face masks are compulsory when entering stores, shops and takeaway restaurants. Other attractions may also require you to sanitize your hands, wear a face mask or protective equipment when entering their premises. They may also limit the amount of people inside at any one time.
  • If you are travelling internationally, please ensure you check your home countries foreign office travel advise, to confirm there are no specific travel restrictions or self-isolation requirements that may prevent you from travelling to the destination.
  • If you are travelling in country, please check your local government guidelines, for any localised restrictions that may prevent you from travelling to the destination.

 

Additional restrictions in Scotland:

 

  • Locks will operate 7 days a week, 8.30am – 5.30pm with a 1 hour break for lunch (at a time to be determined locally). 
  • Lockmasters in Scotland will be covering multiple locks. our base team will share details on how to call ahead before you reach the lock, and please be aware that it may take longer to pass through.
  • All boaters must wear gloves and will be responsible for their own mooring lines at every lock.
  • Sufficient competent crew is required aboard the boat at all times when on transit through the canal.

FRANCE

Our Canal du Midi, Camargue, Alsace-Lorraine, Burgundy: Nivernais & Loire and Burgundy: Franche Comté regions opened on 15th June 2020.

Our Brittany, Lot, Charente and Aquitaine regions opened on 26th June 2020.

Starting from the 15th June, you can experience a fantastic boat vacation in France however, please note the following regulations:

 

  • Owing to the operational challenges that coronavirus has presented us with, we have taken the decision not to open our bases in Boofzheim, Castelsarrasin, Dinan, Branges, Chatillon-Sur-Loire, Narbonne and Trebes for the rest of the 2020 season. If you have a booking that is affected by this base closure, where possible, your booking will be switched to a different base within the same cruising region. We will be in touch to let you know, although we are extremely busy at present, so please bear with us while we work through affected bookings in departure order. We thank you for your patience.
  • Government restrictions that are in place, require that groups can't exceed a maximum of 10 people in public places. However, a maximum of 12 people are allowed on board our boats.
  • The use of face masks is compulsory within public indoor spaces.

Our German region opened on 25th May 2020.

  • Owing to the operational challenges that coronavirus has presented us with, we have taken the decision not to open our base in Jabel for the rest of the 2020 season.

IRELAND

Our Irish region opened on 29th June 2020.

From the 29th June, you can experience a fantastic boat vacation in Ireland however, please note the following regulations:

 

  • Government restrictions require that groups need to be from one household, and have enough bedrooms to all individually self-isolate.
  • If you are planning to use public transport during your trip, you will need to wear a face mask.
  • Although you are able to cruise, there may be some cruising restrictions in place. Our base teams will share the latest restrictions with you during your pre departure area & navigation briefing.

ITALY

Our Italian region opened on 12th June 2020

From the 12th June, you can experience a fantastic boat holiday in Italy however, please note the following regulations:

 

  • The end of the cruising season in Italy has been brought forward for 2020. It will now end on October 2, 2020.
  • Government restrictions require that groups from different households will be required to adhere to 1 meter social distancing and have separate bedrooms for each household.
  • A group of two couples from 2 households require a minimum of 2 bedrooms
  • A group of 7 people, 4 households of 3 couples and 1 friend require a minimum of 4 bedrooms
  • A group of 7 friends from 7 households are not able to cruise on one boat.
  • Gloves are mandatory when using ropes and manoeuvring the boat in every harbour of the region.
  • A mask is to be used if social distancing is less than 1 meter, or when you are inside including means of transport. Children under six years and those with a disability that are not compatible with the use of the mask are exempt.
  • A 1 meter social distance is to be maintained everywhere if not family members.
  • In food, clothing and shoe shops you must wear disposable gloves if you touch food, try on clothes or shoes.

NETHERLANDS

Our Dutch region opened on 15th June 2020.

From 15th June, you can experience a fantastic boat holiday in the Netherlands. However, please note the following regulations:

 

  • Government restrictions require that each household will be required to social distance with separate bedrooms and bathrooms and be able to keep 1.5 meters apart. Please note that (according to the municipality, student houses are not a household). For example 4 couples can cruise on a 4 bedroom and bathroom boat as long as they adhere to 1.5m social distancing.
  • Children from 12-18 do not have to adhere to social distancing amongst each other, but do have to keep distance from adults.
  • Children up to 12 have no restrictions.
  • If you are planning to use public transport or taxi's during your trip, you will need to wear a face mask.
  • Museums and attractions may open with advance reservations only, so please check in advance.
  • Although you are able to cruise, there may be some cruising restrictions in place. Our base teams will share the latest restrictions with you during your pre departure area & navigation briefing.
  • Groups of people may not be allowed within shops.
